Service Description: The purpose of this project is to implement the goals and policies of the One Tacoma Plan. This will support the development of compact, complete, and connected neighborhoods with a variety of housing choices that are near schools, employment, parks, transit, and other amenities.
This project will evaluate potential rezones to ensure that Tacoma’s zoning is consistent with the Future Land Use Map (FLUM), which is a part of the One Tacoma Plan, and recommend zoning and/or Plan modifications to the City Council. State and local law require zoning to be consistent with the One Tacoma Plan, but a map review found that in some cases they do not match. Each designation in the FLUM has a special purpose and could support a variety of zones. The goals and policies of the One Tacoma Plan are used to guide zoning decisions.

Areas Under Review
The map shows all the properties being evaluated as part of the FLUM Implementation Project. This zoning review is still in a preliminary stage. The initial proposals described under the additional tabs are based on guidance from the Tacoma Planning Commission and further public comment and analysis will be conducted prior to the Commission issuing a formal recommendation to the City Council.
