Description: A survey by FIREPRO technicians delineated the perimeter of historic fires in the frontcountry of Denali National Park and Preserve.Historic fire perimeters were created based on tree core sampling and fire plot work done in DENA by Toni Caprio (NPS Fire Technician) 1982 while working for John Dolle-Molle (DENA) and Gary Ahlstrand (AKRO). Overlays for USGS topographic maps (1:63,360 or 1:250,000) were created. These maps were digitized (possibly in 2003 by Jon Payner) for GIS.Jennifer Barnes and Jen Hrobak (AKRO) made edits to the fire year attributes for some items in 2020. These updates were submitted to the AKRO GIS Team for updates to the AKRO GIS Theme Manager in 2021.
