<div style='text-align:Left;'><p><span>This dataset is a statewide dataset containing full-length alignments of multi-use path and rail trail facilities. These facilities can only be used for modes of non-motorized traffic; most commonly bicycle and pedestrian use. They are often integrated into the bicycle and pedestrian facilities network, meaning they tie into or are adjacent to sidewalks, dedicated bicycle lanes, or parks; however, some features can be disconnected from a community’s bike/ped network in rural settings. Facilities with a rail trail designation have been converted from an abandoned railway to a multi-use path.</span></p><p><span>Sources are local municipalities’ publicly provided data, Area Development District data collection provided to KYTC, KY Rail-to-Trails and KTYC collected data via field efforts or aerial imagery. TheMulti-Use Paths dataset has existed in its current form since February 2021 and was compiled by the Division of Planning Multi-Modal group from existing and new data gathered both in-house and from local and regional agencies.
Sources are local municipalities’ publicly provided data, Area Development District data collection provided to KYTC, KY Rail-to-Trails council, and KTYC collected data via field efforts or aerial imagery. Some features were integrated using a combination of the aforementioned sources.
Features are created by manual digitization using aerial imagery and attribute info from the aforementioned sources or by copy/tracing shapefiles/kmz files from data that is available publicly or submitted to KYTC.

Node, geometry and topology relationships are collected or generated to satisfy topological requirements. Some of these requirements include: arcs must begin and end at nodes, arcs must connect to each other at nodes, and arcs do not extend through nodes.
Data completeness for unrevised digital files reflects the content of the source graphic ie. DRGs, DOQQs, realignments, As-Builts, field maps and other agencies' documents. All future updates will be collected following the current Standards for KYTC Road Centerlines.
