Lead Service Line Boundary layer is an outline of the area where lead service
lines may have been installed prior to the moratorium on lead as a service line
material in 1956. Domestic service lines within this boundary may be composed
of lead. Service lines falling outside this boundary are assumed to be composed
of a material other than lead. </span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;'>However, lead solder,
brass, and brass fittings
may have been used in domestic and commercial buildings up until 1986
when a moratorium of lead solder for use in potable water plumbing was
established. Despite this moratorium solder containing lead may still
have been used in drinking water household plumbing after 1986.</span></p><p><span style='font-size:16px;'><u>Update Details</u></span></p><p><span style='font-size:16px;'>The Halifax Water Lead Service Line Boundary feature layer was updated on January 10, 2020. This update involved the refinement of the Halifax Water Lead Service Line Boundary within Dartmouth and in the Chocolate Lake area of St. Margarets Bay Road in Halifax.</span></p>
