Description: This Zoning layer of Municipal Zoning is a compilation of the zoning districts for all 73 municipalities of Chester County. The impetus for this zoning layer came from the requirement to update the "highest and best use" for parcels as determined by the County's Assessment Department. In the past, zoning data was maintained parcel-by-parcel. With the digital layer, all parcels contained in a certain zoning area can now be updated automatically in the GIS. The municipal zoning ordinance is one of the important tools for managing growth. The zoning layer is an indicator of the future development patterns that may exist in the County.
