View In:   Map Viewer

Service Description: This layer includes the variables used to calculate Tree Equity Scores for Tucson, AZ. Tree equity score was calculated by multiplying a GAP score-- a normalized score from 0-100 based on the difference between a GOAL tree canopy and the existing tree canopy-- by the PRIORITY INDEX -- a normalized score from 0 to 1, incorporating vulnerability variables obtained from census information: Poverty: Percent of population below 200% of poverty, Employment: Unemployment rate, Minority Population: Percentage of people who are not white non-Hispanic, Dependency Ratio: Ratio of seniors (65+) and children (17-) to working-age adults, and the Heat Severity. Tree equity scores of 100 indicate tree equity has been acheived in the neighborhood. Heat severity and tree canopy data obtained from Pima Association of Governments' 2015 data. Census data obtained using esri's Enrich tool on Tucson neighborhood polygons.
