Description:

Off System crashes geocoded from street and cross street information included in crash records from the Colorado Department of Revenue. Crashes were initially spatially located to intersections using a geocoding locator, constructed from Jefferson County's May 2020 street centerline dataset. The "link" field was used to determine whether a crash occurred at an intersections or offset from an intersection. Crashes were offset from intersections where applicable and snapped to a June 2020 update to Jefferson County's crash linear referencing system. The addition of linear referencing information to the crash records enables analysis of roadway segment crash patterns and Level of Service of Safety in Vision Zero Suite software. An update to Vision Zero Suite that includes the crash and linear referencing data was encoded and provided to Jefferson County in June 2020. Approximately 80 crash records contained too little information to be geocoded, or 0.5% of the crashes from 2016 through June 2019. The attributes for these crashes are included in this dataset, though no latitude/longitude information is included. Crashes occurring on private streets contain no linear referencing information, though will contain latitude/longitude information.
