disclaimer1 (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: The goal of the Kent Police Department SafeCam program is to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between the Kent Police Department and the community we serve. By registering your security camera, you will make Kent PD aware that you maintain a security camera at your property's assist them in reaching out to you to obtain available video footage when crime occur. Registration is entirely voluntary, and Kent PD needs little information from you in order for you to participate. The Kent Police Department will not post your registration informaiton online. However, your registration information may be disclosed in particular circumstances if necessary to comply with a subpoena or other disclosure obligation imposed by law. If there is a crime or a disturbance in your neighborhood, Kent PD will use the SafeCam program to identify security cameras in your neighborhood that may have captured evidence of the activity. If your security camera may have relevant footage, Kent PD may contact you and request access to view your security camera's footage. When contacted, you may always deny Kent PD's request to view your security camera or its footage. However, if you do, and as is the case whether or not you register your security camera, police may reques ta warrant from the court to obtain this video footage. If your security camera footage contains evidence of a crime or law violation or other incident, you may potentially be called as a witness in the case. 1. Registrant information is gathered only for official use by the Kent Police Department.
2. If necessary, the Kent Police Department will contact you directly, using the information you provided when you registered, to request video surveillance footage.
3. Video footage containing or related to criminal activity may be collected by the Kent Police Department for use as evidence during an investigation and criminal proceeding.
4. Under no circumstances shall registrants represent that they are acting as an agent and/or employee of the City of Kent or the Kent Police Department.
5.
