Description: The land use designations depicted in this dataset guide the general distribution and location of various land uses in the City of Kent. These designations guide the character of development patterns, which impact aesthetics, mobility, housing, environmental and public health, and economic development. Land use designations are implemented through the city's zoning districts map and zoning ordinance, KCC Chapter 15. Definitions for individual land use designations can be found in the city's most recently adopted comprehensive plan. This layer is current through June 22, 2018 and was last amended per Ordinance 4279. The Comprehensive Plan provides a broad policy framework for land use decision-making, capital facility planning, and creation of development regulations such as zoning, subdivision, and environmental protection codes. This featureclass contains parcel-based land use polygons and land use designation descriptions. Data extents cover Kent city limits and the Potential Annexation Area.
