Description:

This service is associated with the The Lead and Copper Rule (LCCR) inventory requirement, which directs water systems to undergo a record review of information pertaining to service lines, both water system-owned and customer-owned portions. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) understands that no inventory method is 100 percent accurate, and the LCRR requires utilities to update their inventories on a regular basis as new inventory information becomes available.

Water meter boxes are receptacles containing Kent Water’s customers’ meters. These assets are typically owned and maintained by Kent Water. Updates are made by field staff as assets are installed. Location data is captured in the field by GPS. The AssetID field contains the unique identifier for each asset. This is the primary field used to identify assets. The LifecycleStatus field defines the status of each asset. Functioning assets have a status of “Active”. As assets are abandoned and removed, this field is updated accordingly. Since 2021, no assets are to be deleted regardless of status. The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the data within this feature class.
