The six-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a short-range planning document. Whereas the Transportation Master Plan is a long-range planning effort for the next twenty years. City of Kent updates the Six-year TIP annually as required by the State law and projects, plan and program are removed, added, and updated annually. Once the project or plan is completed, it is removed from the TIP and during the draft process of updating the TIP, projects and plans are added as needs and sources of funding are identified.
The 2023-2028 TIP has a total of 50 projects, two plans and five programs. This webmap shows the projects, plans and programs that the City plans to adopt by June 31st. Projects fall into five categories: Capacity/ITS, Maintenance, Multimodal, Non-Motorized, and Safety. Kent is split into Subareas based on land use, transportation network, and topographic characteristics. The City has five subareas – Manufacturing/Industrial Center, East Hill-North, East Hill – South, Downtown and West Hill/Midway.
