This shapefile provides base-year (2015) estimates and projections at five-year intervals to the year 2050 of total Households, Population Living in Households, and Total Wage and Salary Employment.
The unit of geography is the Local Allocation Zone, or "LAZ," which are CMAP travel model subzones (roughly equivalent to PLSS quarter-sections) subdivided by 2010 municipal (Census) boundaries and Chicago Community Areas. This composite geography was developed so that the data could be summarized to more recognizable geographic levels, while still performing its primary role as the source of trip generation estimation in the travel model. NOTE: These projections are the result of modeling procedures which incorporate a number of factors represented at a variety of scales; as such, they cannot be considered precise at any specific location. These data are only appropriate for planning purposes when aggregated to larger areas.
The spatial extent of this dataset is the seven counties within the CMAP region: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will.
For more information on the 2050 forecast, please see the ON TO 2050 Plan appendix "ON TO 2050 Socioeconomic Forecast," in particular Part 2, "Local Area Allocation."
