Description: This data set extends along three of the four reaches of the Portneuf Vision Study Area, starting near the Northern boundary of Pocatello within the Northwest Reach completely through the Concrete Channel Reach, and ending in the Levee Reach just short of Pocatello’s southern boundary. This year is of special importance because it is the last image year used before the completion of the concrete channel in Pocatello. The vector files representing the Portneuf River for the 1963 were derived from ortho-rectified data created using structure from motion technology (Pocatello, Idaho Historic Orthoimagery for 1963 (~1 meter resolution) doi:10.7923/G4SF2T3P). The workflow vector layers for the 1963 dataset is as follows. A vector file was created and manually digitized from the raster. Oxbows (cut off meanders/channels) and river features were coded as a “type” attribute within the attribute table. From here the data was smoothed using the PAEK algorithm with a smoothing tolerance of 20 meters to eliminate sharp corners.
