This layer was recently updated to represent parcels from Assessor Parcel Maps as of 7/30/2015. This feature class is the ongoing repository for the Assessor's GIS tax parcels of Santa Barbara County. A geodatabase topology was used to correct gaps and overlap errors within .003 ft cluster tolerance on the ground in July 2015. It is projected that this topology will be verified on an annual basis. Various methods are used to update these features including COGO, tracing images or Assessor Parcel Maps, and CAD to GIS transformation. However, there are many cases where spatial adjustments (eg. rubbersheeting) or best-fit decisions are made to complete updates in a timely manner. At any one time throughout the year, in the vicinity of newly created or modified parcels, there may be slight errors in the topological integrity. Athough every effort is made to maintain the highest level of accuracy during all phases of layer modifications. The attributes of this layer have been updated to include property characteristics as well in 2014.
