Description:
This feature service represents, Version 2 transit stations that were used to produce Transit-Oriented Community (TOC) Policy Areas for the San Francisco Bay Region. Data used to create this dataset were sourced from TOC Transit Stops - Existing (2023) TOC Transit Stations - Existing (2023),  as well as from Transit Stops - Planned (Plan Bay Area 2050). TOC transit stations are a subset of Existing and Planned transit stops, representing stations served by rail, light rail, bus rapid transit, and ferry terminals.

Stations are larger facilities that may house multiple transit stops serving different routes or modes of transit. This hierarchy is often defined by the transit agency and reflected in the General Transit Feed Specification data, though it is important to note that, for the purposes of the TOC policy, some transit stops are are considered stations regardless of whether they are part of a larger parent station. Stations used for the TOC may have used stop/station relationships defined by the transit agency or synthetic stations may have been created based on stop location proximity. Stations can be related to [DRAFT] Transit Oriented Communities Transit Stops (2023) by joining on sta_recid.

The TOC Policy Areas were created from these features by producing a half-mile buffer around each major transit stop, station, and terminal that are part of this feature service. More information about the TOC Policy, including the full text of Metropolitan Transportation Commission Resolution Number 4530, can be found here: https://mtc.ca.gov/planning/land-use/transit-oriented-communities-toc-policy.
