Description: This feature service was produced to identify eligible
areas in the San Francisco Bay Region where a nominated Priority
Conservation Area (PCA) can be designated as a Working Land PCA. The
coverage of Working Land PCA eligibility is made up of any area that
meets either of the two Working Land objectives. This data was
produced as part of the PCA Program Refresh work
undertaken by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in 2023-24
using the PCA 2.0 Framework.
This dataset designates areas that meet either of the Working Land objectives listed below. Data for each
indicator threshold was combined to create this layer. The minimum
standards represented by this data are inclusive – the goal is not for
all eligible areas to be nominated by a local government, but to ensure
that data supports the nomination of Working Lands PCAs. Local
nominators are strongly encouraged to use their own data and/or outreach
to further prioritize their nomination(s).
Working Land Objectives:- WL1: Protect important farmland, grazing land, and timber land to support the region's agricultural economy and access to locally- and community-grown food.
- WL2: Maintain areas of high carbon stock and enhance low-carbon stock areas with multi-benefit management.
