Description:
Existing transit routes represent all primary rail, bus, ferry, and light rail routes and were created from static General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) data downloaded from the Bay Area 511 GTFS API. To create the existing transit routes, ESRI Public Transit tools were leveraged as well as open source python libraries such as Pandas.

Most routes in this feature set are primary/source routes. The majority of duplicate routes (route features that designate different travel directions, most night routes, and most weekend routes that have the same route name) are not included. The duplicate route features were removed in an attempt to make the feature set easier to use, while maintaining the major, everyday routes for each transit agency.
