Description: Created from datasets retrieved via local, statewide, and nationwide agencies, this GIS dataset locates point data for the regionally critical assets throughout Sarasota County. A team of interested parties, including coastal engineers, GIS analysts, and government agencies; reviewed the compiled datasets using the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) standards; to identify potential data gaps and overlaps preceding any analysis. By referring to the FDEP standards, the team ensured all data accounted for. The team organized the data first by asset type; then identified which of the four critical asset categories the dataset belong - Critical Community and Emergency Facilities; Critical Infrastructure; Natural, Cultural, and Historical Resources; or Transportation and Evacuation Routes. To maintain consistency across the state, the team aligned the attribute fields with the FDEP required fields. By creating new attribute fields, the numerous datasets gathered (see below for a list) have consistent attributes regardless of source data. The final attribute table is simplified to show only the relevant, and complete, fields needed for reporting and analysis. See below for definitions of the attribute fields included in the data layer.
