introduction (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA), with the support of USA Pulses, is asking for your help in better understanding pesticide usage in pulse crops (dry peas, beans, chickpeas/garbanzos, and lentils) in the pulse growing regions of the United States. With these data, we can better guide our work and research for growing and marketing pulse crops. Crop profiles, pest management guidelines, and pesticide tolerances can be updated with this information. Additionally, this information can be used in comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) about the importance of pesticides for production of pulse crops. USA Pulses will retain all survey responses., SQL Type: sqlTypeOther, length: 255, nullable: true, editable: true)
intro_pt2 (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: A copy of the Washington responses will be used by the WSDA to help them to continue to advocate for fair and reasonable regulations handed down by the EPA. The WSDA uses this information to better inform the EPA about what is actually happening on the ground with crop production. Without state level data, the EPA makes the broadest assumptions that all pesticides labeled for specific crops are applied at the maximum rate and number of times to all crop acres. By demonstrating that pesticide usage does not follow these assumptions, we can advocate for more realistic regulations on pesticide use. Similarly, it is important to document what pesticides are being used on what crops to stress their importance for maintaining productive cropping systems., SQL Type: sqlTypeOther, length: 255, nullable: true, editable: true)
intro_pt3 (type: esriFieldTypeString, alias: What happens with my responses that are shared with the WSDA? In this survey, personally identifiable information will not be collected nor asked for. The individual results will be combined to create an average usage profile for the crop at the level of NASS reporting region. Individual responses to this survey will not be retained after the completion of these usage profiles. The usage profile will be held in an internal WSDA database. This average usage profile is the only information that the WSDA shares in comments to the EPA or other rulemaking organizations. This information is not shared with the compliance office.
