Description: The parcel polygon layer was compiled using the most resent Orthoimagery for the City of Alpharetta as a base map. Prior to any vectorized GIS data being developed, there was an extensive project with Fulton County to acquie all recorded surveys. These Fulton County surveys, coupled with the surveys whch the City had on file, were the predominant source documents for parcel vectorization. All valid surveys were digitized though a process called Coordinate Geometry. Any parcel within the City which did not contain a survey, was compiled through a process called "heads up digitizing" . Both the orthoimagery and Fulton County GIS tax parcels were used as the source for the "heads up digitiziing" process. All final data was reconciled to the most recent Fulton County tax digest and reported back to the City of Alpharetta
