Description:

An Installation that is part of a pipeline and covered by the pipeline licence. A pipeline installation includes a compressor station, pump station, tank farm, oil loading/unloading terminal associated with pipelines carrying processed (sales) product. Also includes category C & D Line heaters. In 1996 Directive 056 described them as facility applications under the Oil & Gas Conservation Act but in 2003 were deemed to be Pipeline Installations as they are under the jurisdiction of the Pipeline Act. A pipeline installation will be linked to a pipeline licence. There may be line segments associate with the pipeline installation licence or it may be a stand-alone installation on a licence. Meter stations and regulator stations are not considered pipeline installations as they are associated with low pressure pipeline systems (< 700 kpa MOP) and would be under the jurisdiction of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development.
