This data represents fire hydrants in Skamania County, Washington. This information may by useful during emergency response, planning, and evaluation.

Some data points originated as relatively low precision GPS readings collected by WSU Extension wildfire program staff (circa 2002-2007). In (circa) 2018, GIS staff reviewed the data for accuracy. Locations were confirmed and adjusted for better accuracy using Google Street view, available high resolution orthophotography, and (if necessary) site visits to confirm. This process was applied to the data in the areas of Stevenson and North Bonneville. The data points for Carson, Stabler and Underwood were provided by the Skamania County PUD. It was collected with better GPS accuracy and QA/QC. The PUD data also includes more extensive information for each hydrant as these are PUD inventory. Hydrant points are also provided for several addition areas (e.g. Home Valley, Willard, Mill A, etc.) that were collected by the WSU Extension wildfire program, but have not yet been individually verified. These are coded accordingly as "no" in the "Verified" field.
