Description:

This data provides polygon features representing the approximate location and coverage of various road plans, alignments, projects, etc. in Skamania County. Each original record is stored by Skamania County Public Works.

GIS METHODS -- There were two means by which the records were geographically located when making this dataset . 1) Used the 911 road centerline feature class to linear reference by project mileposts available in a Public Works project inventory spreadsheet. The road segment associated with each record was buffered to create a 10-foot width buffer polygon. Items in the index spreadsheet that had milepost beginning and milepost end could be cross-referenced to road centerlines by using each road's 5-digit County Road Number. This method is denoted with 'linearRef_Buffer' in the GIS_METHOD field of the attribute table. The second method, 2), For records that could not be located/created via linear referencing, polygons were either created by using a buffered section of road centerline (manually), or a polygon was manually drawn to approximate the location on the map. In either case, method 2 is noted as 'Manually built and/or buffered' in the 'GIS_METHOD' field of the attribute table.
