Description: This is a feature class which shows the extent of Green Belt in the Metropolitan Borough of North Tyneside as idenified in the North Tyneside Unitary Development Plan of March 2002 . Green belt is an area either next to or surrounding surrounding urban areas in which development is designed to protect open land for the purposes of enabling outdoor recreational activities, landscape protection and improvement, nature conservation and the traditional commercial activities of agriculture and forestry. Note this has been modified to follow changes in North Tyneside Boundary as identified in the Ordnance Survey Mastermap Topography Layer in 2017
